Our dentist and team at Common Sense Family Dentistry combine quality care with up-to-date technology to ensure you and your family receive the best treatment possible. We proudly utilize the following high-tech equipment to enhance the comfort and efficiency of our service:

Solea® Laser Dentistry

If the sound of the dental drill or the needle pinch keeps you from the dentist’s chair, now you have nothing to fear! At Common Sense Family Dentistry, our dentist, Dr. Scott Stucki, and team use the Solea® laser, an advanced dental technology that can replace the needle, drill, and scalpel during your dental appointment.

The Solea dental laser can be used on hard (enamel and dentin), soft (gums), and osseous (bone) tissue without the need for anesthesia in most cases. It also reduces your time in the dental chair, meaning you will have minimal downtime and numbness after your appointment. Call us today at (435) 319-8992 to see how laser dentistry in St. George, Utah, can benefit you today!

The Solea laser is an advanced, all-tissue dental laser designed by Convergent Dental. It is a computer-aided CO2 laser system designed to improve and enhance treatments. It helps our dentist perform procedures with greater ease, and our patients enjoy a more comfortable experience.

The Solea laser is specially designed for various treatments, including soft tissue, hard tissue, and bone procedures. It uses a unique variable-speed foot pedal to cut through all types of oral tissue with great precision, accuracy, and speed. This laser also uses an advanced wavelength and computer controls to make your treatment more comfortable. When you receive a treatment performed with the Solea dental laser, you can count on it being anesthesia-, blood-, suture- and virtually sensation-free.

Benefits of the Solea laser include:

  • Enhanced comfort â€“ Procedures performed with the Solea laser are so comfortable that they almost never require the use of anesthesia.
  • Faster treatment â€“ This laser uses a unique wavelength that operates faster and more quietly than other lasers, reducing your time in the dental chair.
  • Greater precision â€“ The Solea laser gives our dentist greater control, making it easy to perform highly accurate and effective procedures.
  • Multi-quadrant treatment â€“ Because the Solea laser can perform treatments quickly and effectively, our dentist can treat all the affected areas of your mouth at once rather than needing multiple visits to our office to focus on each specific area of your mouth.

Carestream Camera

Our dentist and team at Common Sense Family Dentistry are pleased to utilize a Carestream camera in St. George, Utah. This advanced camera produces clear, sharp images quickly and easily, allowing us to provide incredibly accurate diagnoses at much faster rates. If you want to learn more about this high-quality intraoral camera, please get in touch with our office at (435) 319-8992 to schedule an appointment with Dr. Scott Stucki.

An intraoral camera is a tool we use to get a closer look at different parts of your smile. The intraoral camera is a small, pen-shaped device that we can use to take high-quality color photos of your teeth and gums and other areas of your mouth, as needed. Because the intraoral camera is so small and easily maneuverable, we can use it to see angles in our mouth that we cannot easily view with the unaided eye. We may utilize the intraoral camera to better evaluate your oral health and diagnose dental problems like tooth decay, periodontal disease, and tooth damage like a cracked or chipped tooth. The intraoral camera is also useful in following up after a completed treatment.

In addition to helping our team get a better view of your smile, the images taken with the intraoral camera allow you, our patient, to better understand your oral health and dental treatments. We can also send these photos to other dentists and specialists and can submit them to dental insurance companies as needed. To learn more about the uses and benefits of intraoral cameras, we invite you to call or visit our dentist and team soon.

Computer-Assisted Anesthesia

At Common Sense Family Dentistry, our dentist and team understand the fear many have about receiving an anesthesia injection, which is why we utilize The Wand® computer-assisted anesthesia technology in St. George, Utah. The Wand anesthesia allows us to minimize or eliminate injection pain, resulting in a comfortable, anxiety-free dental experience. For more information on The Wand computer-assisted anesthesia, we invite you to contact our office at (435) 319-8992 to schedule an appointment with Dr. Scott Stucki.

The Wand® is a computer-controlled single-tooth anesthesia (STA) system that helps us provide you with a dental experience that is more comfortable and relaxed. The Wand delivers a computer-regulated anesthetic flow, resulting in a more comfortable, often pain-free numbing experience. The effect is immediate, helping you feel more at ease during your visit. Because the flow of anesthetic is computer-regulated, it is more even and eliminates the stinging sensation often associated with injections. In addition, The Wand features single-tooth anesthesia, allowing our dentist to numb just one tooth before completing your treatment, rather than numbing several teeth and the surrounding tissues, such as the cheeks, lips, and tongue. You no longer need to worry about half of your mouth being numb for hours after your treatment!

The Wand is also easier for our dentist and our team members to use than traditional anesthesia methods. The easy-to-use, ergonomic handpiece lets our team quickly provide you with the anesthetic you need without using traditional needles. You can feel comfortable and relaxed without the need for syringes during your treatment. To learn more about The Wand and the benefits of single-tooth anesthesia, we welcome you to call or visit us today. We look forward to speaking with you!

DIAGNOdent™

Dr. Scott Stucki and his Common Sense Family Dentistry team are thrilled to employ the DIAGNOdent™ laser cavity detection system in St. George, Utah, for advanced cavity detection. If you are interested in receiving the benefits of DIAGNOdent, please call us at (435) 319-8992 to request an appointment with our dentist.

DIAGNOdent™ is a laser cavity detection system that helps our dentist detect cavities at the earliest possible stage. This painless system uses a handpiece that our team members pass over your teeth. The DIAGNOdent then gives a numeric rating to indicate the health level of the tooth. If a tooth is decayed, the system will alert our team. We can then formulate a treatment plan to improve the health of that tooth.

Because the DIAGNOdent can detect tooth decay before it is visible to the naked eye, we can treat issues before they become more extensive and cause more damage. In fact, DIAGNOdent can even detect tooth decay that still lies beneath the tooth surface and may not be detectable with digital X-rays. When the decay is treated early, we can provide a more conservative restoration that causes less discomfort, is less expensive, and preserves more of your natural tooth structure.

The DIAGNOdent laser cavity detection system is 90% accurate — one of the most accurate cavity detection systems now available. For more information about DIAGNOdent and the other types of diagnostic technology we use at our office, we invite you to call or visit us today.

Using this scan, our dentist can:

  • Assess the need for orthodontics and evaluate the progress of treatment
  • Diagnose impacted wisdom teeth and other impacted teeth
  • Analyze the development of periodontal disease
  • Evaluate the TMJ (jaw joint) and diagnose a TMJ disorder
  • Detect oral cancer
  • Plan dental implant placement
  • Diagnose cavities (tooth decay) and other dental problems
  • Evaluate the extent of dental and/or facial trauma
  • Detect abscesses, cysts, and tumors

Using the Kodak 9600 3D machine is fast and comfortable.
